Amazing Green Race
The Amazing Green Race 2022
Back in-person for the first time since 2019, we can't wait to get back outside and let the games begin!
The Amazing Green Race is a full day, outdoor event, where Peel youth, aged 14 to 18, spend the day completing various environmental challenges throughout Mississauga, exploring forms of sustainable transportation and learning about climate action in the community. The race will be hosted on Saturday, May 28 from 10am-4pm.
How does it work?
Climate-focused challenges will be stationed across south Mississauga, led by various community organizations and volunteers. Teams of 3-5 youth will tackle these challenges, using customized maps to walk, roll, or use public transit between checkpoints. Cycling, rollerblades, skateboards and scooters are all permitted - but no cars! Groups will be given clues and tools to complete the environmental activities, getting their eco-passports stamped with each task completion. The race will begin at Ecosource's Iceland Teaching Garden, and continuing through Mississauga Valley Park, University of Toronto Mississauga campus, and Erindale Park. Teams will race to the finish line for the final challenge and closing ceremonies, where they can enjoy lunch and refreshments, learn about local organizations, and hang out with their peers!
The 2022 Amazing Green Race is generously supported by the Climate Impact Fund and the Peterborough KM Hunter Foundation.
