My name is Joy Zhang, I am currently a grade 12 student in the IB program, and I attend Glenforest Secondary School. I have been extremely passionate about environmental protection since the fourth grade, and with PEYA, I have been able take part in amazing activities related to sustainability and stewardship, such as tree planting, and park clean ups. Gardening is a very beloved hobby for me, and PEYA has not only taught me a lot of gardening technique, but also how to make gardening practices more sustainable, such as using the drip irrigation method, and learning how to derive compost from household waste. The environmental issue I am most passionate about is the depletion of natural resources, as it is occurring extremely rapidly, and it directly concerns the survival of humanity. Outside of PEYA, I am the marketing chair for Sustainable Youth Canada (SYC), the Yoga Instructor for the Fitness Club at my school, and a member of Youth For Global Action, and DECA Ontario. My other passions include philanthropy, cuisine, hiking, art, and photography.
